Mother’s Day is just around the corner. It is the one day of the year where your entire family has to officially do everything you tell them so make sure you make the most of it! Treat yourself to a fabulous day from start to finish.

My top 7 suggestions for an incredible Mother’s Day are:

Breakfast in bed.

The perfect way to start the day! It is also a great way to get some energy for all the fabulous activities your family will have planned (haha perhaps!?) There is nothing quite like the feeling of being woken up with a nice big cuppa and some toast (perhaps it’s a little more gourmet in your house?) One of my newest obsessions is I Am Infusion Tea – it is the perfect accompaniment to your Sunday morning breakfast. The hardest thing is deciding which of the 3 herbal teas to drink first – I Am Love, I am Beauty or I am Brains.

For those mums who think the idea of spending that much time in the car with your family is anything BUT relaxing; how about heading to your favourite local watering hole or restaurant for a relaxing lunch? One of my favourite venues, the water front Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel, has just undertaken a super duper renovation that has to be seen to be believed. Book in for their 3 course Mum’s Day lunch and you get a glass of bubbles and a special gift as well! If you think you have been a really great mum for the last year see if you can talk your family into booking you into one of the 32 boutique rooms for the night – of course it’s completely your choice whether you decide to take any of them with you.

4)   Head over to the new Pottery Barn Kids in Bondi Junction for a Mother’s Day Doll Tea Party (bookings essential.) The littlies are encouraged to wear their weekend best and bring with them a doll or teddy to help them make a special felt flower bouquet for mum or grandmother. Note this is being held on Saturday 11th at 3pm and 4pm. This is especially good for those mummas who think Dad might have dropped the ball a little this year with the present buying. At least you know you’ll be getting something! And you will no doubt go a little crazy in PBK – it has to be one of the most divine stores I have been into in a long time.

5)   How about booking yourself in for a nice, relaxing afternoon at your local day spa? No-one actually said that you have to spend the entire day with your family just because it is Mother’s Day. Mother’s Day is a celebration of all things mummy and if that means having a glass of bubbles, a massage and a facial so be it! Or how abut this as an idea? The Parlour Room in Clovelly has a special Mothers and Daughters package so you can spend time with your daughter whilst getting a manicure, pedicure, KORA facial and eyelash tint – it’s win win. Everybody is happy!

6)   For those mums who aren’t too keen on the idea of lying around getting pampered on Mothers Day then the Mother’s Day Classic might be more up your alley. Held nationally, it is an opportunity to do something fun and active on Mother’s Day whilst doing a good deed and raising money for breast cancer research. The event is suitable for everyone as there are both shorter and longer courses available. Walk, run, skip whatever! It doesn’t matter as long as you enjoy yourself and you give yourself a pat on the back whilst doing it for supporting such a wonderful cause.

7)   Play tourist for the day in your own city. Too often we never take the opportunity to explore our local treasures. Jump on a ferry, a tram, a bus. Go somewhere you haven’t been before or just view an old favourite with a tourist eye. They say a change is as good as a holiday. Personally, I would much prefer to go on holiday and I think playing tourist is the next best thing to actually jumping on a plane and skedaddling for real.

And for those mummas who think their families might need a little assistance in the present buying department – my top gift suggestion is a bracelet from Australian brand Tara Wolf. I have a wrist full of these gorgeous designs. Choose between star sign and chakra symbols in gold or silver. They are beautiful, simple and elegant. And let’s be honest – there isn’t a mum out there who couldn’t use a little more Zen in her life!! J

Happy Mother’s Day Mums.

I hope that you all have an incredible day, no matter what you do xLCB
