Woody, Buzz and Jessie are back nine years later with a new Toy Story instalment for the next generation of kids (and adults) to enjoy!

When the final credits of Toy Story 3 rolled, we doubt there was a dry eye in cinemas around the world and the franchise seemed to be coming to an end. Thankfully, the team at Pixar saw sense announcing a new instalment featuring the original voices of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen!

A New Adventure

Much has changed in the world of Toy Story since we last heard from Andy’s collection of dysfunctional toys. Now in the possession of new child Bonnie, who inherited them from Andy, you can expect to see all your favourite toys return including Mr & Mrs Potato Head, Hamm, Barbie and Slinky Dog to name a few. Bo Peep is also back and set to play an important role as she teams up with her ex-boyfriend Woody on what is sure to be a crazy new adventure. Josh Dooley is making his directorial feature debut on the film and we’re promised a heart wrenching ending to rival any of the previous films. “I gotta resist getting emotional. I don’t want to give it away, but this is an incredibly great story,” Tim Allen said. “It is so emotional, it’s so funny, it’s so big, the idea they’ve come up with, I’m startled. I couldn’t even get through the last scene.” We can feel the waterworks starting already…

Final Goodbye?

While we’re yet to receive confirmation of more films from the franchise, the fact that there is a Toy Story 4 gives us hope, as many felt the last film as the end of a trilogy. Tim Allen did nothing to deny the possibility of further instalments. “Once you’ve gotten to four, you’re past that trilogy point, so I don’t see any reason why they wouldn’t do it,” he said. “If you ask me, I’d say do five.”

We can only hope Tim has some influence and that this won’t be the last time we see Woody, Buzz and friends on the big screen!

Toy Story 4 is set for release in Australian cinemas on June 20th 2019.

  • I love Toy Story. For me personally, the more movies they make in a series, the more they drag things out, the more it loses story line and interest. When they focus on movie releases as money makers, and less focus on the movie itself, they tend to fail.

  • My son is still a little bit too young to sit still long enough to watch this movie, but I absolutely love the toy story movies. I think they’re very clever and I love that they work Adult humor into a kids movie so both kids and adults can enjoy them at the same time. Definitely can’t wait to see this one
