An urgent recall has been issued for a type of children’s pool floaties over drowning fears.

Temple & Webster Water wings, which are hot pink and feature a seahorse on the side, were sold online nationally between 1 December 2016 and 4 October 2018.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said there is an increased risk of drowning if the product is not used as intended.

“The product does not comply with marking requirements of the mandatory standard ‘Consumer Goods (Swimming and Flotation Aids) Safety Standard 2017,” the ACCC said in a statement.

They said children who own the product should stop using them immediately.

“Consumers should discontinue use of the product and contact Temple & Webster Pty Ltd for a full refund.”

  • Thank you for the recall notice. You think as a parent you are protecting your kids by buying floaties and then they are defective.

  • I guess they might test one item, but certainly not a variety of ways.
Many people don’t get newspapers these are reported in and not all areas have good TV coverage, especially in country areas even though they may be less than 3 hours from a capital city or large country town.

  • Always an awful thing yo hear about a recall, esp when it is a children’s item.

  • Oh dear how many things do we have to worry about these days you would think they have been tested and tried before

  • Scary to think these have been sold and are unsafe

  • So they’re obviously a pool toy and not a pool safety thing. Parents need to take note of these things

  • Wow lucky they were recalled now, as the weather is warming up and many will be in the water more.

  • Thanks for the recall just before Summer!

  • Once again I do not understand how so many products are on the market before being properly tested.
