If you’re a crazy cat lady at heart, or just love a cinema experience with a difference, then Sydney’s cat cinema is a must visit!

With winter weather setting in, a night out is less about beachside drinks with friends and more about cosy evenings at the local cinema. Admittedly, the movies aren’t the most original location for a date night or catching up with friends, but a newly opened cinema in Sydney is set to change that. The ‘Catflix’ Cat Cinema in Surry Hills offers patrons the chance to enjoy a film favourite alongside some adorable rescue kittens!

The Purr-fect Night Out

The cinema is part of Sydney’s original cat cafe, Catmosophere, and features comfortable reclining floor lounge seating, a 120-inch screen, wireless headphones and a small portion of cat treats to encourage a furry friend to cuddle with you.

“We’re all about offering unique experiences while also allowing cats to be their natural selves,” co-owner Darren Eldred told Broadsheet. “Studies show that spending some quality time with a cat can boost your immune system, lower your blood pressure, your risk of fatal cardiovascular disease and cholesterol levels, as well as reduce stress and relieve depression.”

All cats at the Catmosphere cafe are rescued or fostered and can be adopted, so perhaps your date night can be a chance to spend some quality time with your partner and convince them that a cute kitten would be the purrfect addition to your family…

Stick To The Rules

Visitors to the cinema are reminded not to bring their own cat to the sessions and to check the age limit for each session before buying tickets as little ones may be refused entry.

Tickets are $38.50 per person per session, including your choice of drink. Don’t miss out!

  • I haven’t been to a cinema in over 40 years so to me the price is quite steep. No it’s not something I would even contemplate doing

  • This is interesting. I think perhaps I wouldn’t see a movie with cats around but I know my daughter would in a flash.

    • Oh I missed that they can be adopted. What a great way to find the cats new, loving homes!
