Woolworths response after Coles cops criticism over new plastic container promotion.
Coles new promotion has been hit with criticism, with some shoppers complaining just how much you have to spend to receive even the smallest container.
The new promo means shoppers can earn 1 container credit for every $20 they spend in Coles. And with the smallest container requiring 10 credits – that’s a $200 spend. The biggest 1.5l container will cost $360!
They come in five sizes and range from 10 – 18 credits to claim your free container.
600ml – free with 10 credits
1-litre – free with 12 credits
1.2-litre – free with 14 credits
1.4-litre – free with 16 credits
1.5-litre – free with 18 credits ($360!)
Says one critic: ‘It’s a joke. I’m spending $200 for a tiny container that I could get for a couple of bucks in Kmart? No thanks. Saving credits, all that hard work just to get a tiny container just seems like a big headache to me. It’s not like with Stikeez or Little Shop where you get something in your hand that same day.’
Added another: ‘It’s not free … if it was free they would just hand it to you. Nothing is free. You have to spend $200 to get it. What aren’t people getting?’
Woolworths steps up!
Woolworths has answered Coles’ container promotion with a simple markdown of its own.
Marking down their nine-pack of plastic containers to just $5.00 each.
Members of Markdown Addicts Australia say stores are selling out of the plastic containers because customers are taking as many as they can fit in their trolleys.
“On a bargain high right now,” one said. “Scored myself 11 sets of 9 container Sistema packs for………….wait for it……….$5 each that’s a total of 99 containers for $55.”
Winning! What a great score.
